Meet Your Tullahoma Dentist

Jackson Petty, DMD

A Note from Dr. Petty

Jackson Petty, DMD

From a young age, I knew I wanted to be a dentist. For career day in Mrs. Askin’s first-grade class at Bel-Aire Elementary, I told my mom I wanted to be a dentist. My mother had made a little lab coat for me, and I borrowed a mouth mirror from my father’s dental office. Later on, I loved playing in the dental lab at my father's office making boats out of dental wax and sculpting pots for fun.

During high school and college, I had the opportunity to go on a few dental mission trips to Belize and Mexico with my father and some of his dental school classmates. Through these experiences, I discovered that I loved to work with my hands and enjoyed interacting with patients. Now, I have the chance every day to help people get out of pain, restore their smiles, and improve their overall health! Seeing patients leave our office with renewed confidence fills me with joy and motivates me to continue learning and providing the best care possible.

I began my studies by attending Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, for my Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with a Bible minor in Medical Missions. I then attended dental school at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, graduating in 2020. While in dental school, I completed the Serving the Underserved coursework through Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. To offer a wide range of services to my patients, I went on to complete an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. After residency, I relocated to Alamosa, CO, to work for Valley-Wide Health Systems as a general dentist for three years. During my time in Colorado, I was also appointed clinical faculty at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Dental Medicine, where I taught third- and fourth-year dental students who were in Alamosa for rotations.

Over the past three years, I have completed around 180 hours of continuing education courses and remain committed to undergoing further training to stay on top of the latest advancements in dentistry. I am also a proud and active member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the Tennessee Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry, and I will soon be a member of the Tennessee 4th District Dental Society.

When I’m not at the office, I am spending time with my lovely wife as well as our beautiful children. I enjoy reading books, photography, and having fun with my family, especially biking with my kids. Being outside brings me joy, and I love outdoor activities such as hiking, backpacking, camping, and hunting. One fun fact about me: I am six feet and five inches tall.
